【摘要】:Subjecttothelimitationslistedin1.3,thispracticecanbeusedasaresearchtooltooptimizesprayequipmentandpaintformulations,aswellastostudytherelativeeffectontransferefficiencyofchangingoperatingvariables,sprayapplicationequipment,typeofcoatings,etc.1.1Thispracticecoverstheevaluationandcomparisonofthetransferefficiencyofspray-appliedcoatingsundergenerallaboratoryconditions.Transferefficiencyistheratioofpaintsolidsdepositedtothetotalpaintsolidsusedduringtheapplicationprocess,expressedasapercent.Thispracticecanbeusedtostudytheeffectontransferefficiencyofchangingoperatingvariablesandpaintformulations.Keyvariablesthatneedtobecontrolledarelistedin8.13.Note1-Itisimportantthatallprocessorformulationparameters,exceptthatwhichisintentionallybeingchanged,bekeptconsistentfromtesttotest.Ifnotdone,theresultsofthestudyaretobequestioned.1.2ThereproducibilityofthispracticeishighlydependentonthedegreeofcontroloftheparameterslistedinSection8ofthepractice.1.3Limitations-Thislaboratorypracticeindicatesonlythedirectionoftheeffectofoperatingvariablesandliquidpaintformulationsontransferefficiencyunderconditionsofthelaboratorytest:themagnitudeoftheeffectcanbedeterminedonlywithspecificplantexperience.Infact,thenatureofthecriticalparametersthataffecttransferefficiencymakesclearthatitisnotpossibletoextrapolatelaboratoryresults.Note2-ThelaboratorypracticeoutlinedinvolvesgenerallaboratorysprayequipmentandproceduresandisderivedfromTestMethodD5009.ThispracticeandTestMethodD5009arebothderivedfromastudyandreportoftransferefficiencymeasurementsconductedfortheU.S.EnvironmentalProtectionAgency.Forlaboratoriesthathaveaccesstoaconveyorandmassflowmeasurementequipment,asuitable,potentiallymorereproducible,testedmethodisdefinedinTestMethodD5009.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ForspecifichazardstatementsseeSection7,Note8andNote9.
